VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT AVP/CIAUD/2025/06/GHA

The International Committee for Relief and Development (CIAUD), an International Non-Governmental Organization registered under Canadian law and headquartered at 200 Rue Montcalm, 1st Floor, Suite 101, J8Y 3B5, Gatineau, Québec, Canada, provides humanitarian assistance in crisis situations and supports community development in developing countries to help populations achieve self-reliance.

CIAUD’s interventions focus on emergency response, climate change, protection and environmental management, sustainable forest management, refugee and IDP protection, child and women’s rights, disaster response, education, health, nutrition, food security, economic development, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and the rehabilitation of basic infrastructure.

As part of the implementation of its Protection Monitoring and Data Collection programme in Ghana, funded by the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR/MCO-CIV), CIAUD is recruiting two (2) Drivers.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive staff and partners to project sites and operational areas as required.
  • Ensure the safety of passengers, goods, and the vehicle at all times.
  • Conduct regular vehicle maintenance and cleaning (oil change, basic servicing).
  • Properly complete logbooks, fuel sheets, and any other required documentation.
  • Immediately report any mechanical issues, accidents, or incidents to the supervisor.
  • Strictly adhere to traffic regulations and CIAUD safety procedures.
  • Provide basic logistical support when needed (deliveries, errands, assistance to the logistics team).
  • Safely transport confidential documents or sensitive goods in line with CIAUD’s rules and standards.

Note: The responsibilities listed are not exhaustive. Tasks may be adjusted as required in consultation with the supervisor. The job description and performance will be reviewed regularly in line with operational needs.

Candidate Profile

·       Valid driving license (Category B required; C/D is an asset).

·       Minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience, preferably with an NGO or international organization.

·       Good knowledge of Ghana’s road network, particularly in the Upper East and Upper West regions.

·       Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics.

·       Good physical condition and willingness to travel frequently, including to remote areas.

·       High sense of responsibility, punctuality, discretion, and courtesy.

·       Ability to read and write in English; knowledge of a local language (Hausa, Dagbani, Dagaare, etc.) is an asset.
